Didn’t realise how much of a mess my desk is. Going to have to have a big sort out and stick some images up so I can get making!
Also got my mushroom fairy lights fixed, very happy!
Drawing my knob.

Leave a commentProgressing in my project by experimenting with drawing and mark making. Before starting each drawing I set a time limit, some drawings squeezing into half a minute to some of them stretch out over half an hour. Overall, I tried to suggest a life within the objects without giving them human attributes and features. I think they are successful but what do you think?
Twisting and shaking.

I’ve done this through, stitch, fabric, clay, plastic, metal and paper. Just trying out how each material responds and captures the movement. Below are a few examples (bare in mind how raw they are as they are just initial experiments!) hope you like.
My first 3D print.

Leave a commentFriday, I had my first encounter with our artist designer:maker-bot. I printed out a large scale doorknob which I previously modelled in the CAD software – Rhino. Sadly the top didn’t print out but this left the form open for manipulation. The aesthetic of the print plastic would contrast well with a soft material such as a textile or paper. My main aim when combining these material and using the 3D print as a base to work on top of, would be to give the objects, in this case the doorknob, personality and history through the aesthetic, presentation and context of the object. I will be experimenting this week, and I’ll keep you posted with images of this progress.
