This is what it’s turned out like:
Setting it out like this has made me realise how much (or little) I’ve done and how much time has been split between the two projects.
It also shows off my medal project as the more successful of the two. It’s stronger, more coherent and makes more sense!
Taking it one step further…

I have also planned the steps that I have to take to achieve this. The creative strategies I have use to develop my project are through design sheets and mark making. It’s made it easy to describe what I want to achieve in the aesthetic and form of the medal. Design sheet one:
Mark making sheet:
I’ve then developed these into 3D prints. The original mountainous texture was hacked from thingy verse but I aim to 3D scan some textures to work with in the future.
And they are designed to slot together perfectly.
The next step is to make a silicone mould of it and then experiment with different materials to cast it in.
Watch this space!

Our brief is to create two medals under the title “The icon and the iconoclast” one embracing traditional skills, the other embracing digital techniques.
I’ve just started by drawing and sketching out concepts and ideas. Early stages but I think that my workings have become to look dynamic.
